From Kyoto we travelled South West to this small fishing village with spectacular scenery on the Japanese Inland Sea. Thankfully it was a clear day and we could see a lot of the islands dotted around just off the coast, making for great views.

However, we were able to wander the streets freely, admiring the old style buildings, and (yes more!) temples etc., as well as taking in the views after climbing a hill so we could see over the village and across the sea.
We then stayed the night on a nearby island, just a short 5 minuute ferry crossing away, in a traditional style Japanese hotel, when we ate dinner kneeling on the floor then enjoyed the traditional bathing facilities, Emma particularly enjoying the 40 degrees herbal bath - effectively a big bath of tea all to herself!!! A very relaxing stay, and well worth it for a day - back to the big smoke of Tokyo for our last couple of nights in Japan... (PHOTOS TO FOLLOW LATER) More thumbnails ...
