We were actually really relieved to
have arrived after a bit of drama in Surat Thani when we couldn't get
cash out of the one bank machine near our hotel. The hotel
receptionists' advice was to get a 'tuk tuk' to another bank but that
wasn't an option because we didn't have enough money to do that - all
and walked/ran a 5km round trip to another cash machine (which
thankfully worked). I was left with the slightly less herioc but
equally necessary job of looking after our bags in the air conditioned
hotel lobby while reading the newspaper. Barry managed to get
back in time to get our taxi to the ferry so we managed to arrive
on Ko Samui complete with all our bags and enough Thai cash thanks
to our combined efforts!
We've now checked in to a resort style
hotel for our remaining 4 nights here (stuff the budget) and are
looking forward to not having to go anywhere else for a few days.
met up with Justin and Kate (friends from EY in Melbourne) who were
here for the first two days of our stay
nights and went to a Thai boxing match together (check out the

of scuba dives. Barry wasn't too keen on the low visibility
(approx 5-10m) so stuck to snorkling. It was good to get away
from the madness that is Chaweng although Ko Nangyuan was a popular
Barry went on a Thai cookery course this morning where he learnt how to
make red curry including making his own paste, pad thai and some thai
soup - all very promising for when we get home! I sat and watched
and prompted from the sidelines which I'm sure was much appreciated!
Flying to Bangkok tomorrow morning for a couple of nights there before heading further north in Thailand.
