Following a very early night and one of our best sleeps, we joined Yvonne for breakfast. It is lovely catching up with her again. She so enjoys the company. She is an amazing woman who loves to give generously in a quiet, behind-the-scenes sort of way. 

We headed down to Mission Chapel Church in time to set up for today's workshop, Leading Through Change. It went very well. We have found this group much easier to work with. They seem more responsive and get into the activities easily and more readily. We have become aware of the fact that breaking into groups and working through issues like we have asking them to do is not something Guyanese people are used to doing. They are used to having what they need to know given to them in a lecture format rather than figure it out for themselves. Some have found what we are asking quite a challenge and yet are so thankful for the process because as the groups feedback they are seeing it so real and alive for themselves. Their learning has become quite experiential and real – something they are not used to in their formal learning. Once again people were so appreciative of all they have learned. And yet again we are so aware of the lack of opportunities for these people. It has been a good two days.

 After the workshop, we wandered down to the General Store to give a Bible to the Muslim owner. Last time we were in New Amsterdam we had got chatting to him in his store. He had asked us if we could get him an RSV Bible so he can "prove" that the Christian God isn’t real!!! He was just thrilled to see us again and so appreciated us getting a Bible for him. He kept shaking our hands and thanking us. We now pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal to him the truth.

Once back at Yvonne’s, we caught up with her and then headed into town to their favourite fast-food outlet – Demico’s. This is an experience she wanted us to have. She says it is the Guyanese equivalent to McDonalds. Apart from the look of the building, it really wasn’t anything like McDonalds. The only similar food was a soft-serve cone. Barry enjoyed a couple of donuts with his soft-serve while I enjoyed a tasty mince savoury which they call a pattie. It was a good experience to see what is hot on the Guyanese fast-food scene.

We came home, enjoyed some of Yvonne’s delicious freshly squeezed Guava juice and have headed off to bed for another early night.
