11/05/07 - Los Angeles
- Drove down PCH Route 1 (Pacific Coastal Highway) and passed through Ventura, Oxnard, Malibu and Santa Monica. Had brunch in Santa Barbara. Drove up Santa Monica Boulevard, through Beverley Hills, across Sunset Blvd and along Hollywood Blvd, through Hollywood and onto the 101. By-passed downtown Los Angeles and made my way towards Palm Springs stopping at a Wal-Mart Car Park just outside Riverside. Not a great day, nothing much to see, too much traffic and didn't play golf.
LA is certainly not a vacation place for me.
12/05/07 - Riverside to Palm Springs - The thing about Palm Springs is that for some reason I fell in love with it even though it was dark when I first saw the place. So here I am again on my own (what song's that from?) Gonna stay for a week. At 9.00am I booked into Shadow Hills GC for a 12.08 tee-time. Had breakfast @ "Denny's", played golf, had dinner @ "Black Angus", watched "An Unfinished Life" and went to bed.
Oh, first nine by myself and then back nine with Marv (Calgary, Canada) and Hal (San Diego).

13/05/07 - Woodhaven CC -
Leisurely morning window-shopping. Two rounds of golf including lunch @ Woodhaven for $45! As with most things there's compromise. If you want comfortable heat (75 -80 degrees) you pay between $100 - $150, and if you want great value golf ($40 - $80) you play in 95 - 115 degree heat. I don't know about the rest of the tourist industry but the Yanks have certainly got their golf economics on par!
Finished just in time to watch Phil Michelson win the TPC. Spent the next two hours shopping (Wal-Mart & Target) and eating (Subway). Bought a bottle of red wine and "Déjà Vu" for the nights entertainment. Sat outside for an hour updating my "blog" before the film. Another thing about desert golf - there are no mosquitoes. But there are flies buzzing around my dump station! Which reminds me always remember to flush the toilet in a RV before you set off, otherwise.... well, I'm sure you can guess what happens?
