25/04/07 - Redhawk GC
After last nights stay @ "Paradise by the Sea" and a buffet Chinese dinner, I decided that San Diego was far too busy and also too expensive to stay for a few nights. It was also quite cool by the sea, so I packed my bags and moved on.
Played golf with Derek and Terry (back nine only) at Redhawk, Temecula (about 40 miles north of down town San Diego) (apparently the 7th hardest public course in California). Derek was from English and Slovakian descent, but he had no idea where in England is father was from. Which I found quite strange. But he was a good guy, who could play the game, chewed tobacco and spat a lot - really nice! Terry (who joined us on the 10th) was, by contrast, a bad golfer who liked the Casinos. I suppose he was a nice guy too.
Palm Springs.
The drive down the mountains from 4000 ft to sea level with a view of most of the Coachella Valley did it for me - I wanted to stay a while.
A week at Cathedral Palms RV Resort (for just $23/12 per night) - Just golf and the sun to occupy my time - bliss!
26/04/07 - Tahquitz ("Ta Keets") Creek GC- Best value golf yet. $39/20 with a buffet lunch included. (I like Arnold Palmer even more now. What a great guy for building this course, especially for a man of his mature years!) Great course played the first 4 holes alone and then joined up with Mike and Brian from Portland, Oregon. Who had just arrived and were trying to adjust to the 90-degree desert heat. Like I said - bliss!
Oops! - Leaving the car park of the golf club I trashed the rear-rend of a stationary Toyota 4runner, that's gonna cost me 360. (Apparently every incidence of damage costs $700 per incident. Which means, so far having had 4 different accidents I'm at $2800/1440) So I'm working on how I can bluff 4 into 1!However, I might wait awhile until the ante increases. In fact, it just occurred to me that it would be cheaper to write off the RV on the way to LAX and class everything as one incident!

27/04/07 - Indian Canyon GC - One of the oldest in Palm Springs and set back from the city in a desert canyon with mountains surrounding the course in a "C" formation. Spectacular. My fourball consisted of Tom, Paul and John (Irish) all on vacation from Chicago. Above 100-degrees today and getting hotter according to the forecast. But with only 10% humidity it is much more comfortable than Thailand and Florida (at the same temp).
