Casino @ night, never seen as many people playing Bingo and Slot Machines. What an awful place, spent 10 minutes walking round, then left, looking fwd to my own company! There must have been 2000 vehicles in the parking lot and my 5Litre V8 just didn't fit in - get me home! (Being in a crowd can be very lonely)
Thursday - What a morning
Golf @ Talking Stick - 3pm- part of the Troon Golf Franchise (£52). True desert, no houses, flat, no rough or graded fairway; just manicured fairways and desert waste. From 90deg and bright sun on 1st, to 60deg and a sandstorm by 7th! (51 mph wind gusts, a record since 1955! - why me?) Finished at 7pm nearly dark, cold as hell (50deg in shorts!), but the best I've played - only 7 over! (Moved the ball further back and opened my stance -less snap-hooks but a few high rights!) Sorry - but it's golf jargon, that a few will appreciate.
NB: I've played golf in all kinds of weather but never (until today) in a sandstorm. Visibility and the feeling is like looking through eyes of sand and glue! (Just like Robert Zimmerman's voice!)
Friday - Last day/night in Fountain Hills, Phoenix - The rain during the night certainly cleared the air, slightly cooler but very bright. Lazy morning. Afternoon tee-off @ 3.00pm - Longbow GC. This course proves you don't have to spend a fortune to play great courses (£24). Absolutely beautiful. It appears that as my stay lengthens in Phoenix, the courses I play get better. Joined up with a family from Detroit - Ralph & his wife Sandy, their two sons Eric and Daniel(who didn't play) Unfortunately play was slow and they had to leave after the 15th (dinner at 8) So I played the last 3 on my own and in near dark. I'm getting there, +6 today. Much better, no snap-hooks, no high-rights, mostly "it went straght down the middle".
