Very thoughtful for the first hour, basically am I fortunate to be here or a victim of my own circumstances? Wow! too heavy, whatever the reason maye, I'm here and loving it.
When I was a teenager, I dreamt of driving across America and driving a truck long distance. I guess in a way, I'm fulfilling both ambitions. So whatever brought me to this point doesn't really matter.
Stopped for gas and food (Dairy Queen!) in Sonara. A sleepy place on the "Edwards Plateau". (They have a previous employer of mine here (Schlumberger) although I don't know what division "and quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!"
Long straight roads cut through hills, clear blue skies, temperatures in the 90's - a dry heat, dry river beds, bushes and scrub (no trees), not desert just arrid, heat haze on the road and solitary birds circling above - get the picture? This is just how I imagined Texas and it's impressive, although I have to say that this area of Texas, West Texas, is only a small part of the State.
Arrived at my Campground @ 6.00pm, restaurant on site. Think I'll get dressed for dinner and treat myself to some decent food, instead of this fast food rubbish I've been on. I might even talk to somebody.
