We arrived in Kota Kinabalu Weds night. I knew it would be a few days till I could my head back into travelling because of the sadness I felt about leaving my family again. Especially not knowing when I'd be heading back to the UK, let alone be able to make it to the Philippines. At that point I was so sad all i wanted to do was go home. Tears had become my new best friend :(

Luckily we were in such an amazing country which wouldn't allow me to feel like that for too long. Barney was great too, he let me mope about for a bit and even opened the purse strings and bought me some dorky new glasses, some headphones to replace my one eared ones, and a few cookies and cream frappacinos accompanied by oreo cheesecake. I couldn't be too sad for too much longer or we'd be really fat again.

I'm not sure what my expectaitions of Borneo was, probably mainly rainforests, mountains & Orangutans. So when we arrived in KK to find there was a big old built up city alongside a harbour surrounded by mini islands I was fairly shocked. Not an Orangutan in sight. A few hairy Ginger people but no relation. Hmm we headed to the tourist offices and found out how much there was to do, and again how much we needed to spend. Borneos budget was out the window but time to see some cool things. Once in a lifetime right!! I didn't realise that would send me climbing up a mountain Don't really want to talk about it yet as i'm scared of heights and I've still got at least a week to enjoy myself and not worry.

With that booked we still needed to find some other things to do. Having missed on the chance to see the whale sharks in Donsol (again) I had it in my head there must be a way we get to see them here. We skipped off onto the next bus to Sandakan in search of whale sharks in Lankayan.
