Well, we had breakfast at the campground free seems they have breakfast every morning...so I will take anything free!!! Off to White Sands National Park, about 50 miles north of here. Again long boring roads with nothing to look at along the way. We stopped at the White Sands Missile Testing Museum...They did not allow you to see much and had restrictions on the pictures you could take. Pictures could only be taken with the mountains in the background not the desert. I took desert pictures on the way out just because I could really nothing to see. White Sands Park is about 30 miles from there but if they are testing anything it is closed. It was pretty amazing to see these white sand dunes just there in the middle of the desert. They rent sleds to go down the dunes. It felt like you should see the ocean over the dune...pretty wild. The sand was fine and very hard packed. We opted not to sled but did walk up on the dunes and the picnic area. Headed back to Las Cruces in the afternoon...tried to go downtown but the mall area, similar to the Cape May mall is there but all the stores are boarded up...very odd. Drove back down to the old town of Mesilla and went to some of the stores we missed yesterday. Went to this chili shop and had to leave as the smell of the ground chilies were too hot. The campground had a happy hour we attended and met a couple who has been full time RV'er since 2004...sold everything they own and off on the road. They told us a few places to go tomorrow so will check it out. Early night again hitting the touring trail tomorrow.
