Today would be a big motoring day – but at least driving on our side of the road. We followed the M27, M3 to Winchester, A34 north to Oxford, M40 and M42 to Birmingham. After skirting around the north of Birmingham (could see Aston Villa - soccer club), we headed west for Shrewsbury (home of Charles Darwin) and Welshpool. The highways are wide, good highways, and like ours have many, many trucks. The highways bypass the cities and there was very little scenery from the road. We stopped at a good old English restaurant along the road – McDonalds!!!! Our trusty Tom Tom guided us and we were at last in the picturesque welsh countryside and amazingly, it lead us up the small country lanes to the very door of Llanoddian Isaf and a very warm welcome. This is the home of Gwynne and Eleri. Gwynne is the son of Graham's cousin, David and his wife, Francis. Gwynne and his twin brother, Robert visited Graham in 1982 and worked on the farms. Gwynne and Eleri and their daughter, Ellen visited us in 2010, so we were all very pleased to catch up. We will stay here at their very spacious B & B.
