Well today is the very reason for our holiday - we will meet Catherine who rang last Christmas and put her mother on the phone to Graham.  She could remember his father leaving Wales.  This was the impetus.  We met for lunch at the Cann Office Hotel at Llangadfan.  We remembered Deleth, Catherine's daughter who came to visit us in Mackay several years ago when she was backpacking, and it didn't take us long to get to know Catherine, her husband and mother.  After lunch we drove around the familiar areas and revisited places from yesterday which gave us more of an opportunity to take all the place names and house names in.  In this area of Wales, the Welsh language is still spoken and both Francis and Catherine prefer to use it.   It is very difficult for us to pronounce and to see any similarities with English.  All lessons at the school in Llanfair Caereinion are in Welsh and Del had done her degree for nursing through the medium of Welsh.   After the drive we went back to Catherine's place at Llwydcoed , Llangadfan which was a beautiful old house that was built in the 1400's, but had been modernized with all amenities but leaving the exposed beams etc, giving the feeling of a former time.  To top off an enjoyable day we went back to Robert's - The Kings Head at Meifod for dinner.
