We had a very enjoyable breakfast at the famous Bewleys and then caught the open top bus to tour the city. We saw Trinity College, Guinness Storehouse at St James' Gate, O'Connell Bridge, St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle and the elegant Georgian houses in Merrion Square but we didn't get out of the bus as it was still quite cold and miserable. The statue of Molly Malone (dish with the fish or tart with the cart) was well photographed. We then had to leave the River Liffey and Dublin - The Irish Republic's capital and it's heart, and drive to Dun Laoghaire about 11km south of Dublin (English call it Dunleary) to catch the fast ferry (2 hours) across the Irish Sea to Holyhead. During our 1,000 kilometer drive through northern Ireland we found the Irish to be very considerate drivers, letting you into traffic and giving way in narrow lanes. Our car was diesel and the cost of diesel was equivalent to AU$ 2.48 per litre. It all went very smoothly and comfortably and we arrived in Holyhead about 8pm to find our next internet treasure - The Boathouse Hotel.
