Saturday 15 March

Met Linda at airport - I had already booked into our hotel - Bel Aire Princess. What a hotel - Linda sure knows how to pick them. Taxi ride back to hotel - even Linda said hotel was fabaroonie. Complementary drink in bar after we had unpacked. Oh my Linda has brought half her wardrobe - flip-flops/shoes/handbags/jewellery (all matching of course). Quarter length trousers, shorts, jeans of varying colours, matching tops. Couple of dresses, two jackets, spangly cardigans, hair accessories, silky nighties, 2 bikinis with matching sarongs! Loads and loads of underwear, baseball cap, high heels, wedges of various heights and enough lotions and potions to set up her own Boots the Chemist. I can't believe she will only be here for two weeks.

Well we're at a lovely hotel in Sukhamvit Road, which is very busy and nice and centra. Found a nice restaurant called Gullivers. Nice grub and some beers, even had an elephant walking by for good measure. Both quite tired so back to hotel for a good night sleep.

Sunday 16

Khoa San Road today. Spent all day up and down looking and buyig bits and bobs. It is very busy here, but a great atmosphere. Stopped for an early lunch then hit the stalls again.

Monday 17

Bridge over River Kwai today. Its a coach ride then boat trip on the River Kwai itself. The river was quite choppy and once again I had difficulty in getting in and the later out. Mind you I wasn't the only one. The boat took us right under the famous Bridge - took lots of pics. We then went on The Death Railway which was built by POWs. It was a hectic journey - only a couple of stops but it was really crowded and the air-conditioning was open windows! Still I managed to get a seat and got a couple of good shots out of the window as the train turned the corner.

Tiger Temple this afternoon - again lots and lots of pictures. Although the tigers all seemed either asleep or drugged we were assured that they were not drugged. Take a look at the pictures and make your own mind up. Both Linda and I were very brave and petted about half a dozen tigers but it was so, so hot we were melting. We both had a picture taken with a baby tiger but I managed to get bitten on the finger. It was a shock and there was no blood but all the same I didn't hang around too much after that. I thought I was brave but the little bugger was really strong.

Tuesday 18

Last day in Bangkok then we are going to Hua Hin Spa Resort which is south of Bangkok for 6 nights of pampering.

Wednesday 19

We've got a 4/5 hour journey by taxi bus today. Started off at 6.30am and arrived at Wora Bura Resort and Spa about 11.30am. On my I thought out last notel was posh and luxurious but this is something else. Its right on the beach, our room is massive and we've got our own veranda with rocking chair. There is a bowl of fruit, a flat screen tv with dvd player the works. Slippers, dressing gowns and two lovely parasols for us to use when we go walking! There are several restaurants and the grounds of the Resort are amazing. There is a pool with a bar in the middle. I've always wanted to have a drink whilst in a pool.

Settled ito our romo then went for a walk along the beach which we practically had to ourselves. The sea is really warm - almost like having a hot bath (not at all like Hastings). There are ponies and horses and I may even go for a ride along the beach if I have time.

The Spa itself is amazing and the treatments are fab but unfortunately very expensive - may have to wait util we retur to Bangkong and get our massages cheaper.

Thursday 20 to Tuesday 25

Lazy days around the pool, leisurely walks along the beach, dipping in and out of the sea. Lots of activities on the beach and there are a few more people the further you walk. There is kiteboarding which I have never heard of before. It looks great and exciting, however also dangerous. Those kits are massive and as the wind is quite strong along here they take people into the air. Scary although some of the guys look like they know what they are doing and do lots of tricks for show.

Into town for shopping. There is a shopping centre but it's not as big as the one in Bangkok Still we hit it hard.

The food here is absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the local Pad Thai which is noodles and prawns. Tasty, tasty, very, very tasty. I also loved the baked rice with pineapple which was cooked in the pineapple itself. It was gorgeous.

We had a Buffet Thai night with Thai dancing. It was all we could eat for a set price. The food was out of this World. The dancing was great also. The Thai girls are so attractive. Lots of dancing and music till the early hours. Not to mention lots of food and drink. My kind of a place.

It's all come to an end sadly and we are heading back to Bangkok for a few more days.

Wednesday 26

Now staying at the Majestic Grande which is also fab. That's Linda again for you. This has been so refreshig for me after budget rooms and shared accommodation with cold water and no privacy. This is the life. Unfortunately it will be back to roughing it in a few more days so I am making the most of it.

Went to MBK Shopping Mall which is full of trinket/souvenier shops and the like. Took the Skaytain which is neat. Shopping with Linda is hectic. Almost 7 hours of hard core shoppig. This centre was massive - 8 floors and we went in EVERY shop (almost). It was great but I will need a foot massage later. Good job we've already picked our massage shop across the road from our hotel.

Back to hotel then cocktails and Jazz night i the lobby. This is the life. (Mind you the singers weren't up to much).

Thursday 27

Massage today. Really need it my feet are crippled after yesterday. Had an all over oil massage, feet, legs, back, front, arms, neck and head, the works, my feet were pummled and I felt as though I had been a couple of rounds with Tyson, but it was worth it in the end. I came out of there really refreshed. Linda said the same she thoroughly enjoyed hers too. We both thik however, that we will have a few bruises in the morning.

Friday 28

Last full day with Linda. Both had our hair done today. Linda had hers washed and blow dried but I had mine cut, dyed and highlights put in. Wow - I really love the color. Hope it lasts till I get home so you can all see although I have put a few pictures on here for you all to see.

More cocktails this evening (my liver will be suffering). Then out for a meal at Gullivers (our favourite restaurant). Back to hotel fairly early tonight so that Linda could pack as she leaves tomorrow. Good job she bouthg an extra back with her!

Saturday 29

Early breakfast, Takig linda to the airport. Got to get there for 10am. Hardly any traffic for a change and got there in good time. Said my good-byes and it made me really homesick. I wanted to go home too.

Well I'm on my way back to the hotel - on my own now for a couple of days before I go to Australia. Lindas flight has been delayed for 6 hours. Nightmare. We needn't have gone so early but still she's all checked in and there are a lot of shops!

My time in Thailand is almost done. I've had an amazing adventure. Culture, elephants, tigers, history, relaxing in luxury, shopping, eating and drinking. Thailand has something for everyone and I will definitely come back

I leave Thailand on 1 April arriving in Sydney, Australia on the 2nd. Will add more later. Bye for now.

Sawadeekrup, greetings from Chiangrai, North Thailand. Have been reading your journals and all the pics. However, to feel the contrast of the north and south, would suggest you take a trip to the north where it has mountains and caves.
