After saying 'Adios' to Cancun we boarded a ferry to nearby Isla de Mujeres, a small island off the Cancun coast. We stayed at a sweet little beach hostel called Poc Na. It was really similar in some ways to the Beachouse in Fiji. The first day we didn't get up to much, just chilled on the beach and walked around the town. Adam, Dave and Lee - a cool girl who was also traveling with Adam and Dave for a bit - were staying at Poc Na also so in the evening we had a nice dinner and later on some drinks with them at the beach bar.

The next day we all decided that we wanted to explore the island and there was no better way to do this than hire a couple of golf carts to get us around! We drove these beasts down to Punta Sur - the south part of the island - where we hoped to come across a Mayan ruin. This ruin was very small and looked like more of a pile of rocks. I later found out it used to be impressive but after getting battered by numerous hurricanes, there is little left to see. Next I drove us to the turtle farm. It was really cool there. There were loads of turtles at different stages of growth that were at some point in the future going to be released into the wild. The main area before they were to leave their 'home' they had turtles swimming about in a cornered off section of the sea, accompanied by a nurse shark, awesome! We had the carts until 5pm so everyone had a go at driving around for a bit. We stopped off on the east coast of the island and had a little snack in probably the smallest restaurant I've ever seen. A couple of us got it right but the rest didn't really enjoy their food. As everyone was tired from the partying the night before we just had dinner at the hostel in the evening. The food was really cheap which I was happy about.
