We flew into Cancun on Saturday. When we arrived at our hostel we bumped into Adam Warrick and Dave, a guy who he was traveling with, which was very bizarre! Small world! We knew that Cancun during the day time wasn't going to be anything to shout about...we where just there for one night only! In the evening me, Laura, Dave and James all went out for dinner down a cute little street. The food was really good but a bit pricey. About 11pm we got a bus to the main strip where all the clubs where. We decided to go to Coco Bongo - a club well affiliated with MTV etc. It was 45 dollar in including an open bar. Coco Bongo is renowned for not only being a club but for hosted shows every night of the week. That night it was superheroes. Between live acts on stage, such as 'Madonna' and 'Beyonce', there was certain superhero 'fights'. Every 40 minutes or so they cleared the main bar in the middle of the club and actors came down from the ceiling portraying the likes of Spiderman, Neo from the Matrix, the joker, Green Goblin etc and the fight began between the goodies and the baddies. All the actors were on bungees so they were flying all over the shop. I was right as the front for the Spidey vs Green Goblin show down where the goblin sprayed the whole of the front row - including me - with a fire hydrant full of dry ice...nice! Anyway the night carried on like that until it was time to go.
The next day we didn't get up too early as none of us had gotten to bed until around 6am. James and I went back to where Coco Bongo was during the daytime and it was a complete ghost town. Cancun is only for the nighttime goers!
I'm really glad we stopped off at Cancun. So long as you take the place with a pinch of salt, you'll have a really good time!
