We went to the Cu Chi Tunnels yesterday which were pretty good. The guide was rushing us around a bit so we didnt get to spend too much time in each section but it was cool to see how ingenious the Vietnamese were. The tricks and traps they had. They dug 200 km of tunnels underground some with 3 different layers with fake living quarters and bamboo traps. They were so small there was no way the Americans could even fit in never mind get them out. They even tunneled right underneath the American base and they didnt even know about it. They used to come up at night and learn informations (as the guide said) about the American plans.
We went to the Vietnamese War Museum after (formerly called The American and French War Crime Museum) and that was pretty tought going. They'd loads of deadly war photos by American photographres but they also had a war crimes sectoin with photos of G.I. Joes killing innocent children and families which was pretty hard to look at. There was also another section of children with deformities as a result of the chemicals used to kill the crops. There was a fake 'Tiger' jail out the back where the Viet Cong (aka the VC) were kept and I tell ya you wouldnt want to stay too long in those bad boys. Nasty. Beside the cell was a room showing all of the different torture techniques used. They get points for variety but some of their methods were horrific.
We're spending our last 2 days touring the Mekong Delta and then we're heading into Cambodia and saying Tam Biet to Vietnam. She's been good to us.
The Mekong Delta ! Cant tell ya much about it. We got the worst tour in the history of mankind ! The tour finishes up in Cambodia so they know that you're not going to be going back just to complain we reckoned !! It was basically just 2 2 hr trips up the river ! Lovely views all the same
