Today we are off to see the elephants. The concierge at the resort offered to take us so we don't have to worry about a taxi. Once there he offers to come back after our ride to pick us up. Driving into the elephant village we can see elephants with people on there backs walking around, they are magnificent beasts. It costs us 800 baht each which is about $29 Australian for 1 hour. We have to get onto a platform so we can climb on there, there skin is softer than I imagine. There are temples and small villages that we ride through, it is all very beautiful. The elephants are remarkably agile we went down very narrow paths and they didn't miss a beat. The driver sold me a lovely bracelet with little elephants all around it. As we got near the end of our trip we had to go through a little lake. It was a steep drop to get in but the elephant didn't have any problem, I was half expecting him to splash us with water but he didn't, the water came half way up his back
They had drinks and fresh fruit waiting for us at the end which was great as it was very hot on the back of the elephant. After that we had to pat and feed a younger elephant. He was 4 years old and took the food out of my hand, he was so cute I loved the feel of his trunk. Our concierge then took us back to the city as we had a few things to do in there before heading back to the resort.
We finally got to catch one of the Thai buses that the locals catch, they are really cool. They are something like a ute with seats down both sides in the back and a canopy. They only cost 10 baht which is about 40cents and you get off wherever you want, you just press the button and the driver stops.
A few hours around the pool then we got all dressed up to have tea next to the beach, it was a lovely evening and we had a great meal. Back to our room to watch the last X-Men movie before bed.
