Well, my departure is imminent...  Can`t believe how quickly time has flown.  Y`know what? This past summer, I`ve had a few minor moments of trepidation and anxiety due to the immensity of this upcoming trip.  Am I REALLY able to do this trip alone?!?! Will I be able to handle living out of my backpack for such an extended period of time, with no set daily routine?! How will I deal with the inevitable culture shock?!?

When I shared these thoughts with a few of you, you`ve simply cheered me on and said I could do it.  Thank you for the words of encouragement and I`ll remember them when things just aren`t going right while I`m on the road!

Another thing that helped to assuage my fears was speaking with people who`ve travelled... picking their brain for nuggets of wisdom and borrowing tools that may help me along the way.  One such person is Andrée, whom I had the pleasure of meeting today!  I had bugged Robert from Les Routes du Monde to put me in touch with a woman who`s travelled in the regions I`ll be visiting and could pass on some other tips and advice.  At the beginning of our meal, we were strangers, but after almost 3 hours of sharing our stories, her infectious laughter, and the fact that her experience literally made my eyes well up with tears, I felt I found a kindred spirit!  Thanks for sharing your time and your experiences with me, Andrée!

By the by, if any of you guys happen to be headed to Nepal in the near future and are thinking of trekking in the region, you HAVE to meet this phenomenal woman!  Let me know and I`ll put you in touch with her...

I`ve practiced packing my bag...  Still missing some items, but this is it!  It`s almost time to LEAVE!!!!
