After a nutricious breakfast we were all good to go explore Rome in the light of day.
I had only two must-sees left: The Spanish Steps and the Vatican. It is still a mystery to me why the Spanish Steps are so popular, it's just another staircase ;)
From the Spanish Steps it is pretty much a straight line to the Vatican ,or one could just follow any high held umbrella, as you can be sure that all the tour groups are headed in that direction. Standing in the plaza in front of Saint Peters Church, we were surprised to see all the flags from South America. Especially Chile was well represented .We learned later on that they were there because of a particular saint. Unfortunately we weren't able to go into the Church (closed because of Sunday services), and had we gotten in line for the museum, we would probably still be standing there!? Instead we went hunting for pizza and gelato! You should think it would be easy in Italy, but with all those options, it can be difficult to find a place which has exactly the three flavours you are craving!
