In Cairns now but leave tomorrow. Had a brilliant week and we are now both qualified scuba divers and can dive on our own down to 18 meters deep. It was pretty scary in parts but we crushed a few fears and it was all worth it in the end. The boat we were on was superb and the crew and instructors were even better. The guy in charge was a fella called Steve and he is withour doubt the most enthusiatic person I have ever met and as a result it filtered throughout the rest of the boat. He was such a character and his dive briefs that were given before each diver were priceless. some of his more popular phrases were 'Attack! Attack! Attack!' 'Attack at will!', 'Feel the Reef', 'Swim Swim Swim Swim Swim', Come on guys! Get the fuck out of bed we're on the great barrier reef!' I filmed him so I'll try and put it on the net to view somewhere.
On the dive side, we did 9 dives in 3 days at sea and 2 days in the pool learning. Saw sharks and countless different fish, including Nemo. I did a night dive in trterous conditions (vikki bottled it). I nearly hyperventilated at 14 meters deep and almost shat myself. Navagated underwater, badly. Did a couple of dives with just me and Vikki and no instuctor etc etc. It was pretty much one of the best things we've both ever done and well worth it! Next stop Airlie beach and whit sunday islands. Speak soon Suba Dan and Vik More thumbnails ...
