This weekend we went out to the French bar here in Chengdu. That was an interesting experience. Especially since it was some guys wedding party and so there were tons of old(er) men there. Everyone had matching shirts on too. It was kinda funny.
Then on Saturday we went to the JinSha Museum, which is a museum meets archological dig. The best part was during the 4D movie (yeah I know. 4D movie about past people who never blink) when the warriors came back from fighting they started playing the theme from the Fellowship of the Ring. All of the USAC kids thought that was hilarious.
I have some pictures that I will try to put up later. Then I subbed for a teacher at the Crayon school, except this class was 11 and 9 year olds. They were very fun and less stressful then the little ones (but the little ones are cuter)
The 5 of my roommates and I got dressed up for our party where we played some games and chatted. A hula hoop somehow got involved. It was a really good time, and after we went out to one of the many clubs. This was where I had my first unavoidable peeing in a Chinese squat toilet experience. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I still prefer the western toliets.
Sunday was used to catch up on the thousands of pages of homework I had to do. We ended up biking over to a coffee house resteraunt thing called The bookworm (from where I made my last post) and we met this girl from Nebraska who came to Chengdu on an internship knowing no one and almost no chinese. So new friends! New experiences!

Drumline practicing across the street
. While I was gone, the rest of the apartment dwellers readied the place for our housewarming party. This included decorating. Our apartment no longer looks like a mafia house. Well, it still does, just a mafia house decorated with Tibetan prayer flags that we picked up around our school, paintings of the seasons, and some fabric. I'll have to take new pictures and post them soon. The 5 of my roommates and I got dressed up for our party where we played some games and chatted. A hula hoop somehow got involved. Glad to hear you are 'studying' in the tradition of the American college student by going to the bars, having 'housewarming' parties and heading to the coffee house. I just had one question regarding your Chinese squat toilet experience. After your night of imbibery, are you sure that you didn't mistakenly use the sink?

Wha?
4D...?
joan don't try to steal my first. I'm older!
I don't get the 4D thing. I'm glad you were busy this week as so was I and I thought I would be quite behind on the blog. Thankfully I wasn't. I think I want to go to China and share your adventure!
Enjoy!

CS
Hey... so I know this has nothing to do with China, but I found out that there's at least one CS female freshman at ONU. Her name is Julia and she lives in my neighborhood! So weird. She went to a Catholic high school, though (McNicholas- where Ashley Neltner went), so I don't know her that well, especially considering that she's 4 years younger. Maybe she'll join Newman Club to keep the tradition of all the CS girls being in it! Too bad I can't be there to make it 4 for 4 :(
