Well our internet is working, but barely, and this is OK with me for the most part. Despite the addiction, I know that there is an internet cafe down the corner where I could go if this didn't work or someone was on the phone. You see, right now we have one working phone jack (the rest were damaged by the earth quake). This has to be used to call out and for the internet. When we want to use the internet, only one of us can right now because there is only one place to connect to.
But I digress. Isn't this a entry about China? haha.
First lets start out with my day. Yesterday, we had a bus tour of the city. It was really nice! I was shown where the tea houses and parks are as well as this huge walking shopping center. I plan on exploring it all eventually. Then we split off into groups to get to one popular tourist site. The catch was we had to be there and back in two hours and ride a public bus once.
We chose to go to Renmin Park (people's park) and the bus there was super crowded. Luckily we asked someone when to get off. There is a statue outside the park where we were taking pictures, and a nice man who spoke amazing english came over and explained the significance to us. It's a memorial to the soldiers who died protecting the people during a war with Japan if I am not mistaken.
The park was lovely. I want to go back when there is more time to stay. We took a taxi back and had some American food for lunch, which was great because then I didn't have to embarrass myself using chopsticks again. We had the rest of the day off and I chose to come back, look over some phrases, unpack my room, and fix the internet (that is when I sent out all of the emails. Speaking of which if I forgot anyone please just forward it on to them. Thanks!)
Alright so that brings us to pictures of my apartment. But since I am doing 800 things at once I am going to have to add these later. So check back in this entry for pictures.
Zaijian!
