Traveling to China was quite an adventure. The plane from Cleveland to Chicago was like riding a rollercoaster during take off. It was a very small plane. Coming over from China we experienced a bit of crazy turbulence, and even more on the way to Chengdu from Beijing. At that point I had been traveling for well over 24 hours and was exhausted, so that last two hour leg was hard.

We arrived in Chengdu on Sunday night. The rest of that evening was spent getting settled into the apartment, which is very mafia house. It's on the ninth floor of a tower and has a beautiful window view, but at the same time is a little bit shabby. For instance, the pilot light that makes the water warm, was out for the first day. Yesterday we lit it and today it is out again. Apparently it is located on the roof, which isn't a very good place for it.

Chengdu is a really nice city, at least what I have seen so far. We have gone on bus tours and a few walking tours so far. I have a few pictures and will upload them in a later entry.

The driving here is a different experience. To me, it seems crazy and dangerous, but I have noticed that there is not much road rage. You just really have to pay attention when crossing the street, and even on sidewalks.

Classes start tomorrow and hopefully now that the internet is partially working I will be able to update this more frequently.

Zaijian.

Hey Julie Part II
Glad to hear you made it there safely and that things are well. Especially glad your internet is up and working. Your mom probably is too. Look forward to reading of your adventures abroad while I continue with my mundane, everyday life here. Good Health.

Hey China girl!
Hi Julie,
I can't believe you are that far away! You are so brave to go there for 9 months. I KNOW the time will go by very fast for you but slow for us back here in Ohio. Every day will be an adventure for you and I know you will soak it all up. I will enjoy your entries. How exciting!! Love,
Aunt Karen
