Hello all again

The last few days have been a little quiet. I spent the day in the Seaport down the south of Manhatten. Just kinda wandering around, looking in the shops. The seaport has two old maritime ships with masts, sails etc, but I was more interested in looking at this contortionist dude bending all over the shop more the amusement of the crowd. Went out with Caroline, Becca and becca's bloke Dave later. We were off to this place Don Hills to watch Dave's bass players side band (following still?) The venue was kinda a cross between the size of highbury garage mixed with the atmosphere of 'The Ag' it was cool, but not a lot of people were there and by the time the last band came on, there were more fingers on my body than people in the club. Still, its the same over here as in the Uk, where everyone stands at the back, arms folded, thinking 'entertain me dammit, I paid XXX for this'. I had my first cider since leaving the UK. Hmmm... cider!!!Still it was a good night with me and my englishness being the source of the sarcasm for the night. Its like I never left Farnborough.

Spent Saturday morning watching the locals have a softball competition which was cool. A lot quicker than the drawn out the tactical rules of Pro Baseball, but the only difference between the two is the type of ball. It was like grassroots baseball. Awesome to watch. Later I was wandering around the shops, book stores and music shops. I'm debating buying a cheap cd player (as I have a 5 cd's which do nothing all day) and maybe a digital camera, seeing as mine is on the blink. Back in the hostel, the police were outside my room turfing the one opposite. One cop was holding a big knife. Didn't even know Mick Dundee was in the area after Crocodile Dundee 2.

Hung out with a guy called Christian (i think) from Denmark in the evening. He's coming to the end of his 5 month stint around South America, mainly Argentina, Peru and Bolivia. How fucking cool is that? He's off on the 12th home, so we decided to have a few drinks and hit upper west side to celebrate. Had a meal at a Mexican/Italian restaurant(can you mix the two? Apparently so!!) before heading off to a jazz bar to watch a bit of funky music, whilst I slowly got hammered. I was seriously quite drunk!! We met some dude in a bar who was from the Dominican Rep going to Iraq in a few weeks. He was quite keen to tell us. Rather you than me mate!!

Apart from that, just some general lazing about, watching US telly (what is with all of those sodding commercials), a bit of reading etc. I think it will be good to see Ellis after all this time. I think we have been trying to sort this out since he got hitched and moved there 3 years ago (maybe 4, i can't remember). I'm hoping to get alot of work done whilst I am out there.

Hope people are still reading this, and not falling asleep at their keyboards (like I care even if you do)
