So I only finally made it.
After lengthly flight (and shit films) made it to NY. Got train to Hostel, though I missed my stop and had to walk 23 blocks to get to hostel....in the booming heat. With a backpack on....Hostel is ok. Looks like a prison crossed with a youth club. Byker Grove anyone?
After that, wandered around the top half of Central park, trying to get to the bottom ( i though it would take 20 mins). Went in circles instead. iwas the kid in the middle of the park. Crying!!!
Watched the remake of The Stepford Wives. What a pile of..... The original was scary and hell ( i was about 12), this one was raped and has crappy campy shit jokes inserted) A few references were made about the woman of Manhattan in the film which got the audience clapping. Wouldn't get that in Basingstoke!!
So I sent most of the day just wandering around, chatting to people, buying food. Its definitely New York. All the escape ladders on the front of the buildings are cool, and the buildings in general are wicked. Yellow cabs are everywhere, though I thought they were of an older model car. The new one looks shit in comparison.
A few things I've seen and noticed.

The squirrels in the park are as tame as hell. They don't run off and they help themselves to....popcorn.
There are loads of those restaurants that are used in films where lovers are photographed with each other.
Buildings that look like there from the films 'big' and 'the goonies'
Central Park is packed with people skating and running everywhere....in the heat. Why!!!
Cant walk central park down 5th Avenue in 20 mins.
I'm living right in the middle of the donnie brasco movie and all the woman sound like rosie perez(WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP....LOOK IT UP)Its not a bad thing.Its kinda like Brixton, but nicer looking (mornington heights,not rosie)
Its really hot.
Remakes are never really good
The plan is to check out loads of art museums and bands. Will start tomorrow.
