Scott and Maureen arrived this morning! They luckily left Newark before the worst of the big snowstorm hit that left many travelers stranded along the Northeast Corridor of the US. Now they are enjoying comparatively balmy (but damp) weather with us here in Zürich.

After alleged naps and a hearty lunch of bread and cheese, we took a short walking tour around the old town of Zürich. We visited The Lindenhof , a small hill over looking the city of Zürich. Today it is a park, but buried beneath are the ruins of a Roman customs post and a Roman fortress. It is said that over the centuries the stones from the original Roman buildings were reused in later buildings (recycling!), so not much is left above ground from the original Roman occupation. We also visited a few old area churches and admired in awe buildings that are many hundreds of years old but continue to be business establishments and homes.

After a brew stop in the Niederdorf area, we enjoyed a great fondue dinner at home and talked about our plans for the next few days. It is so good to have Scott and Maureen here with us!
