This is our second day in Nassau. We booked a PM snorkel tour with Stuart Cove. We had breakfast at Grand Pacific. It was good. We went to the sports deck. DH, DD and DS played basketball.
By 12:15 we were in front of the Tourist Information Center and the Stuart Cove Van was already there. We booked the trip directly with the company before we left on our cruise. We paid $48.00 per adult ( a saving of $7.00 per adult for booking it ahead of time). It's $30.00 for the kids. We also paid $30.00 each for Grandma and 7yo DD for being on the boat and watched. The trip includes transportation to and from the port, use of mask, snorkel, snorkeling vest and fins. We have our own masks and snorkels. If you book the trip on line make sure you printout a copy of the waiver otherwise you will fill out another paper works when you get there even if you have the paid vouchers with you.
That day was really windy. The sail was so bumpy with the big waves. I am scared of heights. So during our first snorkel stop, I looked down directly, at 20 feet deep I was so scared. It's a good thing I did not panic. I was determined to enjoy this trip. I just looked ahead of me and calmed down. There was only one kind of fish. I did not stay in the water too long. In the second stop, we were informed that it was the setting of the Jaws 4 movie wherein the Jaw bit the airplane. Part of the airplane wreckage was at the bottom. You see more fish here and different variety. I cut my inner thigh as I was trying to removed my fins before climbing the boat. The waves was really brutal. My two DDs were already sea sick.
The third stop was the highlight of the trip - feeding the sharks. The staff lowers a crate of fish where the sharks flock around it while we were on top of the water holding onto a rope and enjoying the site. The Staff gave us 10 minutes maybe more to watch the sharks under the water. Afterward, when everybody was inside the boat, the staff slowly raise the crate and the sharks followed and were jumping and were against each other for the food. Yes, we heard the news before we left on our cruise about someone being bitten by a shark in the Bahamas. That's why it's very important to follow the staff instructions: " Hold onto the rope and stay within the group". The smell of fish blood and the bumpy boat made me sick. I took a bite of granola bar. It only made it worse. I wanted to throw up at that time. I managed to burp and it helped a lot. On the way back to Stuart Cove, my 7yo woke up from her nap full of energy once again. Feeding the sharks was the most thrilling experience we had.
We had dinner at the Magenta. We pre-ordered our food the day before when we booked our dinner. Our food consists of Filipino dishes: chicken adobo, lechon kawali, pancit and sinigang na baboy. We waited about an hour before we got served but worth it.
