e were awestruck by the beauty of the solar de Uyuni. The salt flats are 2000 kms in size and are covered with about 2 inches of water and the entire area becomes a mirror. We walked out on the salt flats in our bare feet. Six Japanese men stripped naked and gave us many photo opportunities. The images of the solar were spectacular. We ended the morning at the railway museum, which is a quirky graveyard of rusted out railway engines and cars. We thought it would be boring but in fact it was fun because it was configured like a playground, with swings and teetertollers, and we got some neat photos. After lunch, we moved to our new lodging "La petite porte", which has only 3 rooms but is fabulously decorated, with wonderful amenities, unusual in Bolivia. After dinner, we watched street entertainmemt of music and dance, as Bolivians from age 3 to 70, practiced for the upcoming carnival parades.
