Canberra is not the most well known place for young backpackers to stop on the way down south or up north.. maybe it's something good.. i don't know, but Canberra is somehow different and was for me worth a stopover.. i stayed there two days only.. one more day would have been better to have a look around too.. because Canberra main attraction is usually the museums, parliament and all the governament stuff.. but foor me even if this things were interesting for me.. the thing i liked most were the people.. so gentle.. nothing to compare with Sydney siders or Melbourners.. so warmfull, so gentle, so old skool aussies.. one local bus drivers did a detour on his normal trip just because we took the wrong one and we would have had such a big hike to get back home, that he drives us almost to our destination.. and without subprime... everybody was so helpfull, so nice with us.. thanks.

The other thing i would have like to visit was the bush area around Canberra.. i heard many good things about great bush walk around there from fellow travellers..

conclusion.. if you came from Cairns or Adelaide-Perth and you have enough from costal road and sleppy retirees town and sleepy fishing village... Canberra is a good detour.
