this place is a little paradise.. and many people are too lazy too get outside cairns, port douglas area.. just take the bus... long journey ou get a car.. it's a great ride.. with great beaches and view.. maybe the best costal road after great ocean road..
you have many great stop on the way.. daintree forest and national park, daintree river and the crocs.. mosman gorge.. ice cream farm.. just full up your tank in cairns as the petrol would be bloody expensive over there..
get over the river with the ferry.. get until the road get into a gravell road and here you are... two or three backpackers.. one for couples and quiet.. other more for the party crue and youngsters.. and your are into a kinda jungle, empty caribean style coast... you can dive, snorkel, lay on the beach with few fellow travellers.. get up the cap.. get into a night jungle trip.. go hiking alone during the day.. but a bit scary as the map are not that great and sometimes you have to do some small river crossing... wtch out the crocs, the snakes and this big animals with a kinda knife on his head.. which can run faster than you.. look like a kinda emu..
had great time there.. but it was jelly fish season..couldn't swim into this empty emerald ocean.. with water temp over 30 degrees....
if you have 4wd.. continue further out the road.. cross the river.. and welcome to.. Cooktown..
enjoy..
