it s easy to get there.. but a bit of a pain too.. that s why many people don t make the journey.. good the the tranquility of the locals and for those who know.. but you miss something.. for me it s the best island i ve been around Brisbane.. in a way better than the touristic Fraser...

take the train to Cleveland.. over an hour... then the shuttle to the ferry.. only twice an hour i reckon.. and then you have three ferries if i remember well.. about one every 20 minutes.. you can take your car on the ferry... more flexible.. and faster.. better to visit the island.. but cost you more bucks...

it not really worth for one day.. maybe if you take one of the first ferry at 6am.. you can overnight there.. from camping to resorts.. through backpacker YHA..

great surf.. not many people know it but it s always a bit bigger than on the Gold Coast.. North Straadie at the point is a swell magnet.. but dwon side.. it very sharkie.. a guy died in 2006..

great for walking, snorkling, diving, surfing, swimming.. you have endless of white sendy beaches... with no soul except some retiree during the week... one of my top favourite in australia.. locals.. are real aussie old school legends.. i reckon because they probably like tasmanian are isolated on their island far from the stress of the big town nearby.. and some say because the marry their cousins or sisters.. like the tasmanians ;-)
