With limited budget, proper planning and googling were essential. All for the sake of not missing anything great with limited resources (both time and the pocket) especially for a family of 5. After some quick desk-diligence, we ended up selecting Arabian Dreams Hotel and Apartment in Bur Dubai area.
With the 3 boys running about, we opted for the 2 bedrooms apartment unit that came with 2 baths, a fridge (important for leftovers and for stocks), clothe washer ( coz we dont want to bring too much since we sure gonna bring back more stuff ;) ) a full kitchenette, dining and family hall, in short its a home away from home for us
Day 1 starts with all things well minus some hiccups, as always :(. Barely hours before the trip, wify was down with a bout of God knows what, threw up at everything. I guess my quick run to the clinic really saved our trip, and she fared well over the 9 hours flight. Thank God for that.
We stopped by Karachi enroute to Dubai. The 9 hours flight was like forever. Then there was this imigration hiccups on my kids' passports. We had a slight communication breakdown. Sometimes its all about attitude and knowledge. Immigration officers should be welcoming rather than gatekeeping "a house full of gold". But again afterall that initial fuss, a short remark of "are you ok?" by a commanding officer brought great relief to us,..... foreign travelers in a foreign land. Well that's half the fun in travelling, you aint know what to expect.
So back to our Arabian Dreams, all was well with the unit and we got help on the TV, the washer and safe boxes within minutes from calling for assistance
As for location, maybe there are better ones, more happening. However, I do prefer a quiet surrounding. Theres a mosque nearby, Maxim supermart where we got all our groceries done (just infront of Al Mashman building) plus a McD across another street and the best thing of all would have been Richmond Restaurant. Man oh man, their briyani was A++. I walked there for takeaways on the first day and they told me that they can deliver right to my room. Thats really great.
We slept well that night, tired but happy and of course, its the start of our Arabian dreams.
