2nd October 2007 - Day 113
Up early to catch the bus to Cuenca we stopped off at the panderia to pick up some treats for the journey however we were disappointed to find that they didn't have any bread - seriously what is the point in opening at 7:00am if nothing is ready until 9:00am? At the bus station we paid our 10 Ecuadorian cents to leave which does not even convert into pounds! We were glad to have made it safely to Cuenca as the driver was a maniac and overtaking on bends and hills was not something that our driver worried about. Carly nearly lost her rag and threw her apple at an old lady after she had kicked and sat on Garvo on countless occasions as once again we were given the gringo seats.
After a good hour walk from the station we had the delights of finding somewhere to stay but down to fatigue we ended up in the Hotel del Norte just off the market square this place was disgusting and not even suitable to bring hookers! 3rd October 2007 - Day 114 Packed up and ready to leave by 6:30am we headed to a better hotel but not before giving the man on reception a piece of our mind in our best Spanish highlighting that this place was not suitable for pigs to stay in. The day was spent walking by the river where the local ladies washed their clothes, exploring the flower marker and historical sites. Taking advantage of happy hour at Wunderbar we enjoyed a few Gin and Tonic's and few games of pool then headed to a Chifa restaurant which offers good cheap food. Back to the hotel we enjoyed a sleep in a safe clean bed.
