Days 10 to14 - June 20th - 24th 2007

So, after a 5 hour journey to Scranton through four states, we make it safely and head out for some beers with some of the other coaches.  For a quick background on Scranton, it is home to the American version of the Office and downtown is full of hicks.  In contrast the University looks like the setting for Hogwarts and is rather religious and the constant ringing of the bells reminds us of this.

Work begins on the Thursday afternoon and is the usual routine which suits us well. The weather is pretty hot although we do get the occasional electric storm. As we write this, we have half a day to go and it will be good to be done with the rugrats for a while and also to get our paycheques tomorrow. It has been a good week although the days have been pretty long, especially when we head out for beers after coaching at 11pm and then have to be up at 6.30am the next day!  The final night at camp Carly stayed in while the rest of the team turned down the usual venue 'the Green Frog' and headed into town and Garvo's attempt at an early night went sour when he couldn't remember the code for the doors and had to wait outside for a good hour!

Carly was unlucky on tournament day as her team decided not to perform in the final and Garvo's team was definately not at camp for the hockey but the chance to practice their English accent in between munching on 'candy', 'chips' and pizza.  Before our journey down to DC we popped in for sushi, completely out of our depths with the etiquette of eating Carly ate a large chunk of wasabi (very hot horseraddish).  Looking forward to a break and a rest up at Virginia Beach next week. We will keep you all posted in a week or so.
