Boarded our train to leave Niagara and travelled about 30mins till we got to the US border where we sat for an hour and half for customs to do their thing! Going the opposite direction it was less than 30 mins. The Trip to Buffalo station was short, only an hour. We weren't due to catch the train to Chicago till midnight, so had 10 hours to fill! Took a taxi to the Mall as the locals said there was nothing to do 'downtown' and it was $10 to the mall and $32 to downtown. Ate lunch, wandered round, then found a seat. It was right by the information counter, so I asked if there was a bus downtown - yes! $5 each for all day passes. So we went downtown, actually we went to the Lake. Lake Erie is huge, looked for a cruise, but they all stopped at Labor Day, the beginning of Sept. There is an outdoor naval display that we looked at, and wandered through the marina. it is a very nice area. Enjoyed the mild weather too. Then back to the Mall for dinner, and a taxi to the train station. Train was about 30 mins late getting in.
