We asked Kirsty for her recommendations for a day out and she told us where to go. Started with a very narrow road down the back of Coniston Water, then to 'Hilltop' which was Beatrix Potters home. Walked through her garden and home, finding rabbits running round in the garden. On round the lake where the Arthur Ransome stories are based. Crossed over Windermere on the car ferry - just a 10min trip. In Bowness on Windermere we went to Beatrix Potter World - displays from all her books.
Back to Coniston and The Ruskin Museum where there is a display about Donald Campbell and the remains of his boat , and lots of stuff about John Ruskin, and Arthur Ransome.
It had rained all day and by the time we got back Black Beck was much higher and rushing by the kitchen window.
