After hardly having slept all night, I finally got out of bed at 9:00.  Cari, Jess and Sam woke up at around the same, time, too... OK, I might have woken them up but no one minded!  Everyone else besides Ryan and Mike were already up so I took a shower upstairs while the girls went downstairs to have breakfast with everyone.  After I got dressed I went downstairs to have breakfast while Cari, Jess and Sam went upstairs to get ready.  Everyone was lounging around outside at the picnic table, on the lounge chairs and in the hammock, so I had breakfast outside.  Grandma and Aunt Debbie had gotten great donuts and I had a coffee cake one.  Afterwards I went back upstairs to blow my hair.  The boys were up and dressed by this time, so I did my hair while Cari and Sam finished getting ready, and Jess, Mike and Ryan watched MTV.

Our plans for today were to go shopping and then hang out around the area.  So at 11:00 Uncle Ted drove Cari, Jess, Sam and I to a shopping center which had a Kohl's.  Uncle Pete and Aunt Vicky followed us, and Aunt Vicky came with us while Uncle Ted and Uncle Pete went to Coconuts.  Aunt Debbie and Grandma had gone food shopping and were thinking about maybe meeting us for some shopping later.  We started out in the Junior's section and wow... we were there for a LONG time!  With four teenage girls you can imagine how long we were there, but believe me... the actual amount of time we spent in Kohl's will far exceed your guess.  We were in there for THREE hours!  Uncle Ted and Uncle Pete actually went back home and then met us later on.

Samantha was taking FOREVER to pick stuff out!  She'd pick out five different bags, deliberate on which one to get for forty-five minutes, put three of them back, pick out two more and deliberate for another forty-five minutes, go back and get the three she originally had, and then wind up buying them all.  Now don't get me wrong, I love to shop, but I have no patience when it comes to pretty much anything and I'm very fast paced when I go shopping, so I was ready to jump ship by the time we were done!  After everything was tried on and bought, we waited outside with Aunt Vicky for Uncle Ted to come pick us up.  I wound up buying a Tinker Bell nightgown, a pink bag for school, a really cool bag that looked like a classic glamour magazine with a pair of dice hanging from the strap, a pink and black wallet with holograms of all "romance" sayings and romantic pictures, a big pink-diamond ring, another ring with small pink diamonds, headbands and a few other little things here and there.  I spent a whole lot of money.  After our grand shopping spree we all went back to the house and put our stuff away before thinking of what we wanted to do next.

We hung out around the house for an hour and then decided to go to the beach.  At home we usually go to the beach as early as possible in the morning to get a good spot and be there for the warmest part of the day, but dad's side of the family likes going late in the afternoon.  We figured it wasn't a big deal since the beach was only three blocks away from the house and it was still hot out. plus it was only around 3:00.  Just us girls were going to go down now and everyone else was going to meet us later on.  We originally wanted to walk but we decided to bring beach chairs, the volleyball net and some other stuff so Aunt Debbie drove us down.  Now, this is a private beach and in order to get there you have to show your pass to the person at the gate and then walk down a ton of steep steps... all of which are surrounded by poison ivy.  So yea, it wasn't fun trying to get everything, including the huge volleyball net, down those stairs!  We finally made it, though, and as usual the beach was empty.  We put our stuff down and tried to set up the volleyball net but it was broken and kept falling.  We couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so we finally just gave up trying.

Cari, Jess and Sam then decided to go in the water.  The water is pretty shallow until you get really far out so they just waded around.  I'm not a big fan of the water at the beach, especially at this beach... it's clean and pretty nice, but unless the water is crystal clear and bright blue I don't want any part of it!  And there were small fish swimming around with lots of jellyfish so I definitely wasn't getting in there.  I just sat on a lounge chair and listened to my Cher "It's a Man's World" CD... surprisingly for Cher, it's a pretty spiritual CD with all awesome slow songs that really make you think, so it was nice to just sit back, relax, and listen to music as I looked out at the ocean.  After a half hour I decided to call my friend Jen back at home on my cell phone, but she was on the other line with our friend Nicole so I just took some pictures of the area.

At 4:15 Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Debbie, Uncle Ted, Ryan and Mike all came down to the beach, bringing more chairs and towels, snacks and drinks.  Uncle Pete and Aunt Vicky came down a few minutes later.  Grandma and Grandpa knew how to set up the volleyball net so they did that, and while it was still broken and not too steady (the spikes kept coming out of the sand and the whole net would collapse) it was good enough for everyone to play a game of volleyball.  Cari and I didn't want to play so we laid out and tanned.

After a half-hour game, everyone just hung out.  Grandpa, Aunt Debbie, Uncle Pete and Aunt Vicky all fell asleep, Uncle Ted relaxed, Grandma fed the seagulls cheese doodles (I'm not sure if that was too good for them, but they sure did like 'em), Mike and Ryan hit rocks into the ocean with waffle ball bats, and Jess, Sam, Cari and I walked down the beach looking for nice rocks and shells.  There is a HUGE dune that makes up the side of the beach and Jess, Sam and Ryan decided to climb it, which they do every time we're at the beach.  At the spot where we were there is nothing up there but woods and they walked around a bit.  They found something that they thought was a newspaper and felt the need to pick it up, and it wound up being a porno.  They dropped that real quick!  They came back down and we all hung out some more.

By then we had been at the beach for four hours.  It was 7:30 and the sun was starting to set.  I was also starting to get a headache from being out in the sun for so long.  We were all tired and ready to go so we packed up our stuff and started the long trek back up the endless amount of stairs, this time exhausted and with more stuff to carry.  We got back to the house shortly after and settled in for the night.

With only two bathrooms it took a while for everyone to shower and freshen up for the night.  I wasn't going to take a shower yet, I was going to wait until later that night.  However, after five hours at the beach I had to go to the bathroom.  I told everyone that I didn't care who took showers when we got back but PLEASE let me run in there for literally a minute and just go to the bathroom.  They all said OK and that was that... until we got back to the house.  Aunt Debbie and Ryan each ran into a bathroom and took FOREVER.  Hey!

When everyone was finished getting ready we decided to have a barbecue.  We're very big on mixed drinks so Jess and I sat outside with Uncle Pete, Aunt Vicky, Uncle Ted and Mike drinking Pina Coladas... "And in the personal columns there was this letter I read, If you like Pina Coladas..."  Oh, I do!  I LOVE Pina coladas, they're my all-time favorite drink!  Grandpa made the drinks (he also made Margaritas and Daquiris) and Grandma put out crackers with all different types of cheese and pepperoni.  Eventually everyone came out and we all just hung out outside, lounging and snacking.  It was really nice!

Samantha was trying to scrunch Cari's hair since it's really straight and Cari can never do it.  That got me and Jess thinking... it was time for spa night!  Every time we're all in Rocky Point together we have a spa night where we do our nails and put on face masks.  However, we passed on the masks this time since we hadn't eaten yet, so Jess and I went and got all of our nail polish.  We sat in the kitchen downstairs and gave ourselves French manicures but we kept messing them up and having to do them over!  Eventually Cari and Sam came in and did theirs, too.  At this point Uncle Ted was barbecuing hamburgers, hot dogs and vegetable kebabs, and by the time we were done with our nails the food was ready.  We went and sat outside with everyone and it was now completely dark out.  It was so much fun sitting out in the "woods" in the dark, with only kerosene lanterns lighting the area.  It was very relaxing, and we all told stories about things we had previously done in Rocky Point and listened to the adults tell us about what stupid things they used to do here when they were younger.  We were all cracking up!

When I was done eating I went inside and took a shower in the downstairs bathroom.  Jess, Sam, Cari, and I then sat around the downstairs kitchen table again while Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Ted, Mike and Ryan watched TV down there.  Everyone else was upstairs.  We continued doing our nails and then Jess braided my hair.  I have sooo much thick hair that it takes FOREVER to blow, especially in Rocky Point where the blow dryer they have has hardly any power.  I like to just braid it at night when it's wet so when I wake up it'll be dry and crimped.  Jess wanted to do it, though, so I let her... it was easier then having to reach behind my head!  By now it was 11:00 and we all watched a repeat of MAD TV.

At 11:30 Uncle Ted and Grandpa went upstairs to bed and we took out the snacks!  It seems like all we do in Rocky Point is shop and eat!  We watched "The Best of Will Ferrell" on SNL and Mike, Cari, Ryan, Jess, and I decided to play California Rummy.  It's a tradition to all play when we're together, especially really late at night.  Grandma and Sam just played checkers but after fifteen minutes Grandma went upstairs and Sam fell asleep on the couch.  After SNL we watched some shows on the WB and continued the game - it's a REALLY long game, especially with a lot of people.  It was pitch black outside and we kept hearing noises and scaring ourselves.  Then all of a sudden Jess screamed "Oh my God, it smells like dead!"  We were all like "Um... ok?"  And she explained that all of a sudden it smelled like dead road kill.  She lives in Westchester and might know that smell, but here in Brooklyn we're not too familiar with it... nor do we want to be!  Then I smelled something REALLY bad, and then Mike did.  We all got scared, and we were pretty tired, so we ended the game, shut off the TV, and all RAN upstairs!

Once we got upstairs Jess and Sam fell sleep.  Mike, Ryan, Cari and I were all used to going to sleep really late during the summer so we weren't tired enough to fall asleep.  We watched "In the Army Now", another Pauley Shore and Andy Dick classic!  I love that movie, it's hysterical.  We finally all went to sleep at 3:30 and I still had to keep pushing Sam over since she kept rolling on to my side!  However, I was exhausted from not getting any sleep the night before, and shopping and being out in the sun all day, so I fell right asleep.
