02 - Coronado Springs
Today started bright and early. We had an 11:00 breakfast priority seating at the Maya Grill at Disney's Coronado Springs resort so I was up at 8:00 and I couldn't even bite down. My wisdom teeth were coming in (or so I thought), and on the bottom right side it was absolutely killing me; I couldn't chew without being in a lot of pain. I just tried not to bite down too much without having to, and I took a shower and got ready in my room. We wanted to leave for the resort at 10:00 so at 9:30 I went to blow my hair when I realized that Mike was in the bathroom. No big deal. When he was still in there fifteen-minutes later, though, I started getting mad. He always complained when we had to go to a resort (he apparently hates resorts) and he wouldn't stop complaining. We all had a feeling that he was being a pain just for the sake of being a pain, so I yelled at him to get out already.06 - Maya Grill
He was finally out of there by ten-to-ten, so I ran in and tried to blow my hair as quickly as possible. I left my hair half wet and ran to get dressed. I was done by 10:15 and everyone was screaming at me to hurry. I would have been done a half-hour ago if someone hadn't have taken so damn long in the bathroom! It would have made more sense for him to go in mom and dad's bathroom since no one was in there and all my stuff was in our bathroom! We were running out the door by 10:20 and just hoping that we would make it on time. It wouldn't have been a big deal if we were a few minutes late, but our reservation was for 11:00 and that was the last seating for breakfast. If we got there too late breakfast would be over! We drove and drove and drove, and made it to the Coronado Springs Resort by 10:52. We were cutting it close!09 - Maya Grill
I had never been to the Coronado Springs Resort before so I wasn't sure where the restaurant was. We walked into the lobby and it was really nice. It wasn't a big, highrise lobby like in the deluxe resorts, but it was bright and airy and everything was Mexican-themed. We followed the signs for the restaurants to the back of the lobby and found the Maya Grill in no time. There were still a bunch of people in there so we took it as a good sign. I gave the woman at the podium my priority seating information and we were seated right in the middle of the restaurant. Yes! We didn't even need a priority seating, the place was empty. We were seated right in the middle of a huge Mayan temple that dominated the center of the restaurant. The décor was really nice - there were fountains and lit torches, as well as a few small Mayan temples surrounding the big one. There were also a lot of Mexican-themed murals and everything was colored in deep shades of red. It was gorgeous!14 - Maya Grill
Our waitress came by and took our drink order - a coffee each for mom and dad and a chocolate milk each for Mike and I, and we went up to the buffet. A lot of the trays were empty and we were pretty annoyed. For $14 a person we wanted some good food! A chef brought out fresh food in no time and we all filled up our plates. Well, mom, dad and I did, but Michael only got a waffle, a biscuit and some scrambled eggs. I took a waffle, two pieces of French toast, a biscuit, a few pieces of bacon, a piece of sausage and some scrambled eggs. The food was all delicious! We were seated by a huge table of a family from Europe, and then another table with a few people who didn't fit at the big table. They were either Spanish, Egyptian or Italian, we couldn't tell. There were a ton of them, though, and they were laughing, screaming and having a great time! It reminded me of how much fun it would be to get my whole family down to Disney, which would be great. Hard to plan and actually make happen, but it would definitely be fun once it all came together. 16 - Maya Grill
I was full after finishing my first plate of food and Michael didn't even eat any of his, but mom and dad went up to get some more to eat. Dad got more sausage and a piece of breakfast burrito while mom got more bacon and two cinnamon rolls. She didn't eat any of the cinnamon rolls but I tasted one of them and it was good. Our waitress brought our bill over twenty minutes later and it came to $60 which was definitely a lot for breakfast. The food had been good, but just like at Boma the year before it was regular breakfast foods that we could have gotten at any non-Disney restaurant for a quarter of the price. Mike joked that Mickey had just run out and given us the finger. and he was right! After we paid, our waitress offered to get mom and dad some coffee to go so we waited another ten minutes for that before we left.18 - Coronado Springs
Mom and I stopped in the bathroom before we went into the Pepper Market, the Coronado Spring's food court. We wanted to get some more napkins and see if they had packets of salt that I could rinse with when we got home to make my tooth feel better. As I was walking in the girl at the podium stopped me and asked if I went to Brooklyn College since I had my Brooklyn College shirt on. I told her yes, and she told me that she used to go there. She was from Flatbush in Brooklyn, that's awesome! I love meeting people from home when we're across the country! I went to go into the food court when the girl at the podium stopped me again. There was another woman with her who said they had to seat us. I told them that I thought it was just a food court, but the other woman said, "After you get your food, where would you sit?" Um, at a table. I told them that we weren't getting food but we were looking for napkins and packets of salt. They didn't have the salt but the woman with the Brooklyn girl got me some napkins. Thanks!20 - Coronado Springs
We then headed outside towards the back of the Coronado Springs resort. There was a huge lake out there surrounded by different buildings that house the rooms of the resort. It was a really nice area. We took some pictures and headed towards the marina. There were four-person Surrey bikes to rent for only $20 an hour and mom wanted to rent one. It was really hot, though, and I wasn't in the mood for riding a bicycle built for four. I was all up for renting a boat, but mom wasn't at all interested so we just kept walking. We made our way over to the beach and it was gorgeous! We could have spent a lot of time hanging out over there but it was ridiculously hot out. We were melting. Dad laid down on a really low hammock to take a picture and almost flipped over! The hammock was so low that it was impossible to move in it without hitting the floor. It was hysterical!40 - Coronado Springs
We continued walking around and went over to the pool. They had a really cool slide that was huge... it looked like a big snake and was pretty awesome. We then went over a little bridge and made our way back to the lobby of the resort. It was unbelievably hot out; we were all sweating like crazy. We passed a lot of nice flowers and foliage, and we were back in the car by 12:20. We made our way back to the house and were on 192 right near our turn to take the twenty-minute drive to Poinciana when dad stopped at a car wash. There were a few areas where you could pay for a self-service car wash meaning you could pay to wash your own car. Why would you do that?! There was also one automated car wash. It was the kind where you park your car and the machine moves around you. We had gotten stuck in the same kind of car wash last year! Dad put his credit card into the machine, though, and picked which car wash he wanted. He accidentally skipped out on the drying of our car at the end and he had to cancel his request and start over. It wasn't working, though, and there weren't any employees in sight so he just kept playing around with the machine before he finally got it to work.58 - Car Wash
We pulled into the car wash and stopped when the machine told us to. It took about ten minutes for our car to be thoroughly cleaned, and I have to admit it was a lot of fun! It reminded me of when I was four and would get the BIGGEST kick out of getting to sit in the car and ride through the car wash! We spent the time talking, taking pictures and video, and we were out of there by 12:40. We then drove back to the house and hung out for a while. My tooth started to feel better and I realized that the swelling was going down. When I went to the dentist a few weeks after we got home I was told that none of my wisdom teeth were even coming in, so I have no idea what that was all about. Oreo was licking the grating by the sliding door that leads out to the pool so I picked her up and put her on the couch, and she jumped down and bit the crap out of my hand. She bit my hand and then wouldn't let go of my finger and it killed. Really, really bad. I was in so much pain and was so pissed off. Oreo's the cutest thing but she just flips out and goes crazy. She's a bipolar dog! Haha!73 - Driving to Perkins for Dinner
I stormed off to my room and watched TV for a while. Mom and dad went shopping as I watched "Ghost" on VH1. I hadn't seen it since I was younger and when I was little Mike, my cousins Cari and Ryan and I would just crack up during the clay scene. I started watching the movie thinking about how stupid it was, and within ten minutes I realized how much I absolutely loved it! Yes, it's very cheesy and the special effects are horrible, but I was crying hysterically by the end of the movie. I loved it! At 5:45 we were all pretty hungry since we hadn't eaten since breakfast, so we headed out for dinner at Perkin's. Mike wanted to be back by 7:00 to watch Baseball Tonight. They were supposed to be counting down the top hundred baseball plays of all time. We weren't sure if we would make it, but we headed out and took pictures on the way.74 - Driving to Perkins for Dinner
Perkin's was located only ten minutes from the house, right on 192 where we usually make the turn to go to Disney and Universal Studios. We parked and went inside and it was a lot more crowded than it had been the last time we were there. We were seated right away, though, and decided that mom, dad and I were going to share a Reuben and Mike was going to get his own turkey wrap. The food was on our table within ten minutes; our waiter was very good at getting everything out quickly. He was really nice and one of the best waiters we had on the entire trip. Our food was all really good. The Reuben here was a lot better than the one I had at Finnegan's and it was a lot cheaper. I only had a small piece, though, since dad had half of the sandwich and mom and I both shared the other half. We only had a little bit to eat since we were saving room for dessert, and I was glad I did because the desserts were huge! Mom got a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream with caramel syrup, dad got a sundae with two big chocolate chip cookies topped with ice cream and covered in hot fudge, Mike got a piece of peanut butter pie, and I got a brownie sundae consisting of a brownie, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and sprinkles. It was really, really good!76 - Driving to Perkins for Dinner
After dinner we headed back to the house and Mike got to catch the end of Baseball Tonight. The countdown wasn't on, though, so he was disappointed. We all hung out and watched TV before mom, Mike and I played two games of California Rummy. Mike won the first game and I won the second. I went to bed at 1:00 and was freaking out because the finger that Oreo had bitten was shaking like crazy. I couldn't control it and I got nervous thinking that the bite may have affected my nerve. I woke mom up to show her and she told me to relax and that it would be better in the morning. I was asleep by 2:00 and my finger was as good as new the next day.
