Well, we're 45 days away and I'm ridiculously excited! The time is going by pretty fast, believe it or not. It seems as if the weeks are flying by. I have three weeks of school left - next week we have Monday off for Memorial Day, the week after we have Thursday off for Brooklyn Day and I'm staying home on Friday since Thursday night is the prom, and the next week school ends on Wednesday. Then it's Regents week but since I'm a senior I don't have any regents. During that week, however, I have to go in to get my cap and gown, and I have to pick up my yearbook at the Senior Breakfast. Graduation is at Lincoln Center on June 27th, the night before the last day of school. I can't wait to get out of high school already! Then there will only be two weeks left until we leave. I'm not worried about those two weeks, though. I'll probably just hang out with friends and relax around the house, packing and getting together all of our last minute plans. And I'll watch a bunch of Disney movies!
The soft luggage rack for the top of our car came last week. It's HUGE. I couldn't get it all folded up and back into the little box it came in so dad had to do it. It's around six feet long and will hold a lot of our souvenirs and extra luggage on the drive home.
Mom and dad called the post office yesterday to see about having them hold our mail. Usually our neighbor gets our mail while we're away, or my grandparents or Aunt Debbie since they live across the street, but they'll all be away this summer. My neighbors Al and Barbera are going to Florida while Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Deb, Uncle Ted, Cari and Ryan will be at our house in Rocky Point on Long Island for July and then on a cruise around Hawaii the first week of August. Aunt Stacy was willing to come by every few days to take our mail but that would be a pain so she'll come by and check on the house every once in a while but the post office is just going to hold our mail. Mom and dad have to go to the actual post office and set it all up next month since they couldn't just do it over the phone for some reason.
Mom and dad also said that they're planning on going to AAA in the middle of June to get a TripTik and get exact directions down to Kissimmee. We just have to follow I95 all the way down but once we get to Florida we're not sure how to get into central Florida. They also want to get some hotel recommendations along I95 for the overnight stop on the ride there and back, and to get the AAA Florida guidebook and discount information. I can't wait for that, I always go with them to AAA and I love the whole "vacation planning" atmosphere! Everyone there is always busy planning all different exciting trips so it's fun.
When I went to Orlando in 2001 we spent our last day at Sea World and I loved it. We went in 1992 but there really wasn't much there at the time. Now Sea World is updated and a lot of fun. I loved Kraken and Journey to Atlantis is one of my favorite rides of all time, and for some reason it just doesn't seem like a trip to Orlando without seeing Shamu! So I was looking online and I found a special online deal - the 2 day/2 park flex ticket for Sea World and Busch Gardens in Tampa. We've been to to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg and after seeing a Travel Channel special on the one in Florida we were toying with the idea of going. Both parks are $61 to get in and this deal has both parks for $95... not bad. We'd save around $25 each. Dad said he'll look into it so now it's my mission to talk my parents into getting these tickets. I figure we're down there for so long, and who knows when we'll be able to do that again, so we might as well make the most of it and see all there is to see, right?! Wish me luck!
Ugh, I can't wait to get out of NY for a while. I want to leave NOW!
