While at Disney World in the summer of 2005, we made a surprise trip to see Cirque Du Soleil La Nouba at Downtown Disney and we all completely fell in love with the show. It was absolutely amazing and unlike any other show we'd seen. Before seeing La Nouba in person, Mike and I had seen several Cirque Du Soleil specials on Bravo and the HD channel back at home and we had always been intrigued by the different shows that Cirque Du Soleil put on. Now we had a chance to see another one. In February of 2006 my mom had seen that Cirque Du Soleil Corteo was traveling around the country and would be on Randall's Island in the city in May. We all immediately jumped at the chance to see it. My Aunt Stacy, Alan and Alison decided to come along which I was excited about because I knew they would all love the show. We bought third level seats and then just sat back and waited for the day to arrive.

When May 26 finally rolled around, the day was dreary and full of rain but we made the most of it 1 - Cirque Du Soleil

. We staked out seats in a small popcorn tent and waited for the main tent to open. We passed the time snacking on some popcorn and pretzels and looking around the extremely overpriced gift shop. When the tent was finally open, we got our seats and were shocked to see that a large pillar was blocking our view. Not cool. Luckily the theater was practically empty since it was an early afternoon show and the guy who seated us told us to move to seats in the center of the first level. Perfect! The woman behind us was not happy and she tried to jump into our new seats and prevent us from sitting there. She was psychotic and setting a very bad example for her young son, and just complained throughout the entire show. We didn't let her bother us, though. If she wanted to ruin her own experience than go right ahead!

The show itself was amazing. It was themed around a clown who died and then looked down at his own circus-themed funeral. The show included acrobatics, extreme sports, comedy and amazing music. This is the only Cirque Du Soleil show that incorporates English language music into the show instead of just French. There was also a woman who walked on a tightrope upside down and a midget who flew through the audience in a big balloon and landed on people's hands! It was absolutely incredible and one of the greatest shows we've seen. We all decided that we liked La Nouba a little bit better, but Corteo was still great and we can't wait to see the other Cirque Du Soleil shows!
