Where I stayed
Queen Mary 2
The ship is lavish of course, food available if you want it 24/7 (of which I seem to be taking far too much advantage!) and there's always staff about if you need anything. I've also started taking advantage if what the ship has to offer; on Tuesday I went to a lecture about Barack Obama's Presidency and what the 2012 American Elections might look like (there was a look at the Republican Candidates). I know very little about American politics so I thought it might be a good idea to go along and listen to Ken Walsh(?) the speaker, talk about his experience with Obama and his views on the current state of affairs.
Also went to the library and got hold of a copy of Dracula and Keith Richards' autobiography, both of which are proving to be interesting; I can't quite decide which one is more terrifying!
Yesterday I got my teeth sunk into the RADA workshops that are available on board, there's six RADA graducates here and they're doing shows as well as running three workshops (go to all three and you get the much sought after RADA certificate - haha!). They performed the Canterbury Tales in the theatre last night which was very good, humourous, extremely rude in places and interestingly directed (minimal set and using same props for different purposes (innovative!)). They're doing Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' on Friday, which I shall be going to; should be good - I like Shakespeare and I like theatre so it seems to be a little bit of a no brainer.
Another thing I find, however, is that I'm feeling rather claustrophobic... sounds a little preposterous doesn't it? Miles and miles of Ocean and I'm feeling claustrophobic... but that's precisely the point. You can't get off this ship (obviously) and the fact that you are stuck is making me feel a little trapped. :/ It's fine though... I just find myself feeling a little restless and itching to get to NYC...
Sometime today we're coming into waters that have something to do with Newfoundland and later this evening we're passing somewhere 100 miles north of the final resting place of RMS Titanic... this all sounds distinctly American; something that is making me happy because it means we're over half way there. Now, I don't want to sound ungrateful, this ship is beautiful, the service exquisite etc... I'm just itching to get to NYC!!
Anyway, smell you later!
