Well, competition day is finally here. Nelson as prepared as possible, eats a hearty breakfast and accompanied by the team, strolls to the Psychology building with Thesaurus and dictionary in hand. The lecture theatre is full of hopeful individuals from all divisions. Meanwhile coach and rest of team go to find lost and found to retrieve backpack. A stroll around the gardens and two hours later, back to psychology to meet Nelson. He emerges scenario in hand. Cursory perusal of the challenge about a new multi- purpose drug being developed looks promising. Met up with Mr. T., Mrs. M. And Mr. K. then in to town for lunch and a stroll around the town square while parents went off to various meetings for their next volunteering job.

Bloomington town centre is a lovely example of a well to do town square, court house in the middle with cupola and limestone cladding and a nice assortment of shops surrounding it in four sides. There is an interesting community art exhibition all over campus and town. A series of large brains which have all been decorated differently, painted, decoupage, sculptural bits hanging off etc. Back to the University to see the Senior division Action Plan Presentations, mixed revues given. A "late" dinner (6:30) then off to the community problem solving presentations. This was a great experience as there were over 60 different community service projects ranging from anti-bullying campaigns to teach NESB grandparents cyber safety and English language to environmental sustainability programs. A wonderful display of thoughtful young people giving back to their communities.
Another late night.

Mr Parnaby on

Bloomington sounds like Bossley ....... slow and steady..........a new wonder drug eh ? Perhaps I could be one of the guinea pigs ? Raining again at my house on Sunday (morning). Up early .... yes you guessed it doing schoolwok .. yet to finish Year 7 reports so I have to a move otherwise I get my rear kicked by Mrs Thambyah .... she's really the Bossley Boss !! I just dream and try to be. These reports will need to be finished before I get back to school on Monday morning (yes I know it's a long weekend but I'll be at school with all my mates !!). I should have them finished and then to start Year 8. I'm still rather jealous about all the great times that you are all having but I am very mindful of how hard that you have all worked to get where you are currently ... a very good example for us all. "Work hard and then the good things follow ....". No great news from "Oz" other than I'm starting to get revved up for the second state of origin this Wednesday night. These games are very special to me: just like the Grand Final ... very similar to the experience that you are all about / been experiencing. Time flies doesn't it ? You'll all be home in a few days. It seems that you are all "motoring along well", which typifies a well planned and thought out activity ... are the Thompsons involved in this ? Funny that !!
