I hate to have to report that I am spending another night in this dreadful city. Why do I feel that each time I enter Bangkok that I'm being circled by vultures with appetites for money and that I'm being cheated by evryone I talk to? Perhaps I just have the wrong attitude and really the city is just over priced for folks of my standards. Possible, I suppose.
Well, in any case, my mind is more so pondering the meditation retreat, now that I'm on my way there and it is just around the corner. I've read and been told that I should arrive early, as it is a popular destination and has the possibility of filling up. My intentions were to arrive the evening of the 30th, but it seems that the only train available will get me there on the 31st at 9 am. Hopefully that will be early enough. I'm also wondering about what the retreat will be like and if I am really up for the challenge.

So, this will probably be my last blog until November 11th-ish. Even though I will be out of communication range, know that my thoughts will inevitably turn to all my loved ones and the fond memories I have of all of you. I will also gladly accept your contributions to my pool of positive energy and donations of strength, patience and endurance.
Francine in increasingly looking to the water chestnut as an example of endurance, strong will and absolute fidelity. The water chestnut, after all, is the only vegetable whose texture and form does not change after freezing, and changeth not after being cooked. Oh water chestnut, please show me the way....

My little Chestnut ;)
May you have a wonderful trip! It will be hard, and I will take moments of peaceful thought thinking about what your going through. Remember the solitude and inspiration it brings. You will be surprised.
All my love,
Darren!
