Waiting in Bangkok
Tuesday, October 16- 3:08 pm
Just a quick entry today to help to kill some time as I wait for my train up north to Chiang Mai. I arrived in Bangkok this morning at about 6 am after spending the night on a bus, sleeping in the seated position. After making my way from the bus staion to the train station, I found out that the morning train up north was already full and that the next viable option for me is to take the overnight train. So I bought a ticket for a sleeper car which leaves tonight at 7:35 and arrives there at 9:30 in the morning. So, I had quite a bit of time to kill.
I did set out on foot and explored the various streets around the station. I suppose I could of taken advantage of the day and gome to see some sights, but I didn't really want to spend any more money. (The train ticket used up a whole day's budget!) But unfortunately the surrounding area is not too exciting. All I really saw was a terribly polluted canal, packs of mangy street cats and clounds of exhaust. Man, the city is dirty, I think from all the cars. Everything, including my feet, is covered in black. Gross! So back to the train station, where I enjoyed a delicious green curry lunch then had a nap on a wooden bench. Yup, it's been quite the day! Haha. And I still have another four hours to wait!
