Well, just about time to check out of the hostel and move on to new adventures. This hostel has really seemed to have become our home over the past few days. I think because of the great, calm atmosphere, inviting hang-out spaces and all the supernice people that are also staying here. It's also nice to have something familiar that is reoccuring in your life.
Last night I went out to this night bazaar with five others backpackers from the hostel. Lee wanted to back to Khosan Road, but that certainly did not appeal to me. This night market was ion an area of the city I havn't been to yet and we had to take the subway to get there. (My first time on a subway since who knows when.) It was great! We didn't spend too much time shopping though, we were there for some genuine Thai food. Which we found at the fantastic restaurant that had a live band playing traditional music. The food was delicious and cost me about 200 baht. (Yes, a bit of a splurge on my budget.) But I was really full and satisfied afterwards, for the first time on this trip. I did end up buying myself a white oriental-style shirt as well, since my wardrobe is fairly limited. (All I have is my brown t-shirt and my tye-dye tank top. And really, it gets annoying having to wash your shirt almost everyday!) So, that was a very enjoyable evening out, I have to say, for my last night in Bangkok.
Today we're heading down to the train station about mid afternoon and buying a ticket that will take us down south to Surat Thani. we have seemed to make really good friends with this Vancouvernite named Ryan, who doesn't seem to have his own plans. Meaning he basically is hopping aboard our train. (Figuratively and literally.) Surat Thani is just a hub where we will catch a bus to Krabi and perhaps spend a night or two there. After that, thoughts are that we might take a ferry to one of the islands on the west coast. Probably Ko Phi Phi Don. But really, this is all tentative and barely anything of this trip is set in stone. The train ride shouls be fun, lasting about 12 hours. Good thing I just bought myself a new 350 page book to keep me busy!
Well, it may be a day or two before I can write again, I'm not sure. And it seems like I'm having troubles getting my pictures up of the net. But I'll keep trying, no worries.
Take care and enjoy the weekend!

Hello from Okotoks
Sounds like sensory overload in Bangkok. The pictures show a beautiful city and very clean. Does that mean you are travelling in the safe areas. Sure hope so. Jacob says HI FRANCINE. You are still his best girl. Hope you have a great train ride and we will keep up with your blog to see what you are up to. What a fabulous adventure you are on!
