We started in the middle of the 27th and arrived 23 hours later in Marigot - St Martin after 200 miles sailing. It was a big catamaran that we sailed with rico, the skipper. He got laizy and let me do everything which is great and had a 9 hours nightwatch which is a bit too much (but for one night...it's alright) It was tough especially cause i sent back home my sailing equipment (too big in my bag!). this was the worst idea i got in the last month. We got not cool conditions, like so much rain that it was bloody freezing!!!
We passed before a lot of nice island like St Kitts, St eustatius and other... in order to get to an ugly one (at least the south side)....etc.
Since i'm hear, i have been spending a lot of time try to get another boat heading to the north but the timing is bad. People are sticking around for the new eve and in general are going south... bad for my plans...
It's really tough to get a boat and you have to be really determined in order to find someone who goes there, plus you have to convince him or her that he/she needs you!! not an easy job!i tried the all marinas (3) and at the end when i got really depressed, the captain of one marina told me that he had a friend going to the Bahamas - Nassau in 2 weeks.
I had to stay 2 nights on a massive wooden boat owned by a french couple and a friend. This was so cool, like a proper house on water... i want the same one.
I had as well a good drinking night with stephanie, from quebec, she a bit of a pusher but it weas a good craic!!!
The morning after, I went to see the man, it took me 6 hours to find him, i really chased him!! I made a suggestion:
"I work for him every day for 6 hours and he let me stay in his boat ( a catamaran 48 feet) for as long as i work. Not a bad deal especially cause he'll give me a lift to Bahamas or Dominican Republic (my first choice)."
He accepted. I'll start tomorow
