We decided that since we were here we really needed to take a snorkelling tour of the ko phi phi lei, the island next to ko phi phi don that is an uninhabited nat'l park also where the movie "the beach" was filmed. To rent a long tail boat for a couple hours to take you there is 1,500 baht or $45. So we figured the snorkeling tour, which included lunch, and bamboo island, viking cave and monkey beach for and all day tour for 800b was a deal. I never really got that sea sick as a kid and have recently found out how much I really need to take dramamine when on a boat that moves. Our first stop was a bunch of dolphins swimming around the boat which was great, then off to Maya beach, the beach where the movie was filmed. Maya beach was entirely disapointing. It looked like a crowded day at Oak st. I knew that it was'nt going to be deserted but damn, I never expected hundreds of people in the rainy season. The next spot was some reef which was beautiful but no snorkeling compares to marshalls (I feel really stuck up that I can say that:-)  thanks karen). Then we drove by viking cave where some cave drawings had been found on the walls that were really old but again we drove by. OH YEAH! Then we stopped at shark point, where aside from centipedes, not seeing the bottom really freaks me out. Not to mention the sharks. So I gather up my courage afterseeing this little kid in floaties jump in in front of me. I'm in the water and the boat guy is throwing chunks of something. I'm sure that its pieces of rotten meat and I'm strategizing who I can run over to get out of the water when one hits me in the face! And I am really embarrassed to say that it was a chunk of rice to feed some rainbow looking fish that had now swarmed all around me.

After all that excitement and no shark and a beautiful island this really funny french guy and his wife start talking to me. He's hilarious telling me all about his trips and his wife's really nice and I am not feeling good. I am plastered to the outside deck of the boat just staring at the horizon willing myself not to throw up, while still trying to make witty conversation and smile. So I politely excuse myself, walk three feet away from this man and throw up watermelon through my nose. Ashley is laughing at me, and the french guys reaaally nicely says "well more to feed the fish".

Last stop on the tour was monkey beach, at this point we all wished we had done the half day tour. The boat drops and anchor way far away and again I swim in not seeing the bottom. whoop. This beach had like 30 monkeys, it stank and was also full of tourists. The monkeys were grabbing food out of peoples hands, just like they do in nature, and going through bags. This was pretty neat but also felt pretty sureal. I didn't throw up again which was also pretty cool.

I have tons and tons of pictures that I have to add to this at the end because I think they make more sense, like the fire dancing.

Also on an unrelated note, there are SO many many ladyboys. Like so many. It's pretty amazing. And not just in Bangkok, like everywhere, tiny towns etc. Rachel got a massage from a ladyboy, she said he was stronger = better. Also was walking by an all you can eat buffet which read "Girl: 265 baht, boy: 295 baht, Ladyboy: 280 baht" Is Thailand just really accepting of cross dressing men? I love it, its amazing, I have to google this when I get home.

Leaving on night train to Chiang Mai tonight with Rachel, Ash is leaving in the morning. I really need a shower I am ewwy!
