Where I stayed
Asha Guest House
Had a long and extremely eventful first day. Saw the grand palace which is like huge, and what every quintessential postcard picture of temples have been. We also had a run in with a scary lady with no teeth and pigeons which was so confusing. The emerald buddha was big but not as big as I thought and dressed in his rainy season wear. And after a cheap tuk tuk ride to the tourism authourity place along with stops along the way to various shops so our driver could get commission, also a long story, but a very cheap ride, we found out that half our plans aren't going to work
. Such as the recent myanmar natural disaster, Pai is out and so is koh lanta for bad weather, ferries aren't going to work. And we may go to a different nat'l park. BUT we were able to see the best transvestite show in the world. The Calypso Cabaret was extrememly immpressive. I was really sure that they were all women, until they talked . . . and they all have boobs, nice ones. Worth every penny I recommend it. Khao san road is super touristy as expected but glad I went. The plan tomorrow is to get a couple massages, and plan the rest of the trip or replan whats not gonna work. I hope this all makes sense I really need to get to bed. Its 12:30am but I don't really know what time I think it is yet.
So after the longest consecutive flights of my life, 17 hours total, Ashley and I finally got to Bangkok and our guesthouse. My butt just started getting feeling back. So, obviously there are many strange things here like, why have I heard avril laveigne so much? Why is everyone so very skinny? Could I buy pants here? Which of the stray dogs/cats could I love without getting rabies?
