Hi all

This is our report from the USA, we arrived from Tahiti into Los Angeles one sunny afternoon, what a shock to come from a layed back desert island culture to the hustle and bustle of the States it took us two days to get used to it. Plus we had to drive through LA !

We managed to visit the usual tacky sites, as we were staying on Sunset strip it was easy to find Hollywood boulevard, Rodeo drive etc. but its a very big city you would need weeks to see it all. We also met Elvis,'he's still alive' and we went to see the muscle men at Venice beach.

The best bit was leaving LA, but the worst was to come Las Vegas which is well OTT. the hotel we stayed in was like a movie set, a replica of Venice indoors, Gondolas and all. We did have a little flutter in the Casino though. We also enjoyed the grand Canyon tour where Ava found herself a Cowboy out in the desert (Sam, he was even older than me if that is possible) we had lunch with the cowboys on a ranch and went pony trekking with Sam in the desert past some ancient Indian holy mountains half way through our helicopter trip to the Canyon.

Next we went onto Death Valley which is fantastic right up my street, give me the choice between cities and the deserts and mountains I know which I prefer. I could spend a lot more time in the outback of the States its beautiful but I've had my fill of the cities.

Next was Yosemite, I've found the place where mountain climbers go when they die (Valhalla) its here, what a fantastic place. Everywhere you look you see massive waterfalls and rock faces they are big. we managed to climb the impressive Half Dome peak at 8835 ft a round trip of 10 hours, I was proud of Ava she did well. We will return to Yosemite again one day.

Our final city was San Francisco, this is a nice city we both enjoyed it. we took the tram around which is quite scary, these things were built over a hundred years ago and the guy on the back swings on the brake to slow them down on the big hills its really impressive.

Next is New York, I wonder what is in store for us their.

Must go see you soon Ava & John.
