. On the last day we moored at Thetford reef to feed the Giant Trevally (approx 3ft long) standing waste deep in the water, it was a dodgy time for any dangly bits! but thankfully we're still intact. This was also our second dive site (Nathan reef being the first). Now we are back on terra firma but we are still swaying every time we stand up, we hope it stops soon.
We are off to New Zealand on Sunday so we expect it to be much cooler there. We have our fleeces packed anyway. Should be some good pickies there.
Must go now we will try to update the web site when we can Ava & John
We are now in Cairns in Queensland Northern Australia after completing our cruise on the great barrier reef from Townsville. The weather was mixed with some cloudy days, a bit of rain and some strong winds but never below 28 degrees C. We did have some sunshine and the weather was generally nice during the daytime. We also had some big swells! (Lucky Ava) and we had to miss breakfast twice - because it was it was a bit dodgy tummy wise, but in general we had a fantastic time. We both snorkeled on the reef and John managed to get two Scuba dives done, the sea temperature is 27 degrees C so very comfortable. The food onboard was lovely 15 stone here we come! we were invited one evening to have dinner with the Captain so we had to be on our best Southern behavior no Northern stuff! (pie & mushy peas were out)We met some nice people on the way Anna & Al from USA and 9 girls from Oz travel in the UK who were the life and soul of the party. We stopped on a couple of islands on the way for some beaches and exploration and one day we had a barbecue on the beach where we had Kangeroo steaks
